Pu-erh Tuo Cha

brewing-information Description

Maintaining the Pu-erh tradition of being sold in various shapes and sizes, this selection has been compressed into small nest shapes, often referred to as tuo cha. We have found that each Yunnan black tuo cha tea piece will make approximately 16 ounces of hot tea. When brewed, Pu-erh tuo cha tea yields a dark, full-bodied brew that has a unique damp and earthy aroma taste. It retains its flavor through several infusions very well.

Please note that each piece is covered in a paper wrapper to preserve its unique shape. This wrapper should be removed before brewing.

Brewing Tips Our Pu-erh Tuo Cha tea should be made with cold, filtered water that has been brought to a temperature just short of boiling (190-200 degrees F). Pour the boiling water over each compressed piece to make about 16 ounces of hot tea. Make sure to remove the protective paper wrapping that oftentimes covers each individual tuo cha before brewing! Pu-erh Tuo Cha tea begins to infuse at about 1.5 minutes and increases to an ideal brewing time of 4 minutes. Once the ideal brewing time has been reached, the leaves should be removed to prevent further steeping. However, varying from black teas, Pu-erh Tuo Cha will not turn bitter if over-steeped.
